Coronation Street\'s Robert Preston is set to meet a grisly end in a Weatherfield blood bath.
The chef - played by Tristan Gemmill - is expected to meet his maker on Christmas Day (25.12.19) when he is shot by Derek Milligan (Craige Els), who takes to the Rovers with a gun in a bid to do away with business partner Gary Windass (Mikey North).
A soap source said: "Derek gets drunk and starts waving a gun around the pub.
"There\'s a tense stand-off then a massive fight between the two men and two people are shot, including Robert, who dies on Christmas Day."
But Robert won\'t die initially - it is said he will pass away from a heart attack off-screen.
The source added to The Sun newspaper\'s Bizarre TV column: "He makes it to hospital but suffers a heart attack and dies off-screen. It\'s left to Michelle to tell everyone he\'s dead."
Tristan recently admitted he is "wary about repetition" on \'Coronation Street\', but the 52-year-old star is delighted with the "great" storylines he has played out as the Bistro owner since 2015.
Speaking in July, he said: "I\'ve had an awful lot of great stories but I think as an actor you have to be slightly wary about repetition.
"There\'s always a time to move on.
"I don\'t know what I want to do next. I\'m just going to be open to the world and see what happens.
"I think there\'s always a time to step away and face the challenges that may lay ahead and that\'s where I am at the moment."
