Nick Grimshaw needed a Valium drip to ease a panic attack during \'Sport Relief: The Heat Is On\'.

The 35-year-old radio presenter suffered a major panic attack during the 100-mile triathlon across the Namib desert for \'Sport Relief\' last month, after he was struck down with heat exhaustion on the second day.

Speaking on Frankie Bridge\'s \'Open Mind\' podcast, he said: "So when I was out in Namibia I kept thinking it was going to happen again. There was no ambulance because I was in the desert. That\'s why I was so scared.

"The only reason it stopped was because they gave me Valium, it was so exhausting and terrifying."

An eagle-eyed medic noticed the BBC Radio 1 DJ didn\'t look himself after he set off on his bike across the Namib Desert on day two of the \'Heat is On\' challenge, and after the star stopped riding he suffered a "really scary" experience just 2km from the finish line.

After checking his temperature, the medic advised him not to complete that day\'s journey, and he was told to sit out of the trek the following day.

However, Nick was able to pull through and complete the challenge, despite it being "the most traumatic thing" he\'s ever experienced.

Describing the ordeal recently, he said: "It was properly the most traumatic thing I\'ve ever experienced.

"We had just landed and I did not know anyone or the crew. It brought on a horrible physical panic attack that just went on from 6am until 11pm. I was freaking out. The good thing was they had to inject me with Valium. After that passed it was hard, but it was the right level of hard.
