BAFTA confirms date for awards nominations

AFTA has confirmed the nominations for the Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards and British Academy Television Craft Awards will be announced next month.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has revealed the nods for this year\'s award ceremonies will be revealed on June 4th, and the nominations for Virgin Media\'s Must-See Moment - the only award voted for by the public - will be announced on June 3rd.

Amanda Berry, Chief Executive at BAFTA, said: "We are thrilled to confirm the new date for our nominations announcement, for both the Virgin Media BAFTAs and the Television Craft Awards.

"During this difficult time, we want to applaud the fantastic efforts of the many talented individuals, both behind and in-front of the camera, many of whom have continued to inform and entertain the nation in recent weeks. We look forward to announcing more details about the ceremonies soon."

The ceremony was due to take place on May 17th, but that, along with the TV Craft Awards - which was to go ahead on April 26th - were halted until "later in the year" as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

BAFTA said in a statement: "Following the latest government advice on coronavirus (COVID-19), we regret to announce that the British Academy Television Craft Awards and Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards, originally scheduled for 26 April and 17 May respectively, will be postponed until later in the year.

"The announcement of the nominations, scheduled for next Thursday 26 March, will also be postponed until closer to the ceremony.

"We\'re working with all our partners to explore options for new dates and we hope to be in a position to confirm them in the coming weeks.

"We are continually monitoring the situation to ensure we are prepared for the challenges we may face in the coming weeks and months.
