Sheridan Smith set to narrate one-off detective special

Sheridan Smith is set to narrate a one-off special that will crown the UK\'s best-loved fictional detective.

The 39-year-old actress will provide the voiceover for the upcoming ITV show, which will see the British public vote for their all-time favourite detective.

Viewers will be tasked with unravelling a mystery to see if they can work out the identity of the sleuth, with the help of old clips and never-before-seen moments.

The likes of Sherlock Holmes, Columbo, Miss Marple, Hercule Poirot, DCI Tom Barnaby from \'Midsomer Murders\' and Line Of Duty\'s AC-12 are all in the running for the crown during the 90-minute show.

Sheridan also recently starred in ITV\'s coronavirus lockdown series \'Isolation Stories\', and is one of the country\'s most recognisable actresses.

However, she previously confessed to suffering "imposter syndrome" and feeling "totally paranoid" earlier in her career.

Reflecting on her personal troubles, she shared: "I never went to drama school, I was suffering from imposter syndrome, and I was just waiting for it to all blow up in my face."

Sheridan struggled to cope with the public\'s expectations of her, and she can still remember feeling "lonely and scared" amid her mental health issues.

The award-winning actress said: "I felt so lonely and scared a lot of the time and it killed me. I felt I couldn\'t actually say that to anyone because no one wanted to hear it.
