Kara Tointon calls final Strictly performance a 'car crash'

\'Strictly Come Dancing\' winner Kara Tointon has called her final performance a "car crash".

The 37-year-old actress won the show in 2010 with professional partner Artem Chigvintsev but she says her last dance was a nightmare as she was battling through a painful arm injury she suffered earlier in the show.

She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "You are meant to get better every week, but I had quite a bad injury in the final the day before, I pulled some ligaments in my arm.

"On the day of the final, I was in quite a lot of pain. So my final dance was a bit of a car crash. It was just awful because I couldn\'t really move.

"When I watch it back, I cringe at the final. But all the other weeks I remember very fondly."

Kara - who dated Artem for four years after the show - was immediately rushed to hospital after the final and told to rest her arm for six weeks.

Meanwhile, this year\'s contestants for the BBC\'s Latin and ballroom competition were recently announced and they will include former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, singer HRVY, \'EastEnders\' actress Maisie Smith and \'Made In Chelsea\' star Jamie Laing.

Comedian Bill Bailey, BBC Radio 1 presenter Clara Amfo, ex-NFL star Jason Bell and Invictus Games medallist JJ Chalmers are also set to compete.

Rounding off this year\'s contestants are \'Good Morning Britain\' presenter Ranvir Singh, boxer Nicola Adams, The Wanted singer Max George and actress Caroline Quentin.

This year\'s series of the show has been delayed until October and will have a limited run of nine weeks rather than 12, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
