Piers Morgan: Thieves stole £10k in cash while I slept

Piers Morgan has told how thieves stole £10,000 in cash from his French villa while he slept.

The \'Good Morning Britain\' co-host and his wife Celia Walden were left devastated when they were burgled last month while on holiday in the south of France, and Piers believes the raiders used drones to scout out his abode before it was targeted.

He said: "It was very orchestrated, and just very unnerving.

"I saw a drone flying over and hovering a couple of days beforehand. They were clearly doing a recee of the villas.

"They took more than 10 grand - that was in euros and Pounds and some dollars. So once they got a bundle of cash, they took that and jewellery, and didn\'t take anything else.

"They didn\'t take any of the laptops or phones as they\'re all traceable now, and luckily they didn\'t take any of the cards."

Piers believes he was followed back from St Tropez\'s Club 55, but he had deliberately not revealed on social media where the villa was in an attempt to prevent a burglary.

He added to The Sun newspaper: "Apparently they follow you back from Club 55, see you flash your watches, and then clean people out.

"I had no idea at the time. We got up as normal the next morning, and Celia said, \'Why\'s my bag out here? It was in the bedroom.\'

"I lied about where I was on Instagram and social media. I said I was in St Tropez when, in fact, I was a few miles away in Ramatuelle. I\'d deliberately taken measures to avoid this situation."

Last month, Celia revealed the thieves stole a sentimental anniversary gift during the raid.

She said: "The jewellery part did sting. It still stings now, almost a week on.

"The art deco ring my husband had bought me for our fifth wedding anniversary; the vintage Pucci cuff I\'d picked up a flea market in LA; those earrings I\'d bought from Alfies Antique Market on the Edgware Road when my first book advance came through: every last piece I had with me was gone, none of it of great value, all of it irreplaceable."
