Vanessa Bryant has been living a terrible nightmare since January 2020.
When her husband, the basketball legend Kobe Bryant passed away in a tragic helicopter accident.
In the helicopter was her young daughter, Gianna, who also passed away.
Since that, Vanessa has shown amazing strength not only as a woman
But also as a mother for her three girls.
One should expect that after such tragic loss, the family will be more united than ever.
However, that wasn't the case regarding Vanessa's mother.
Sofia Laine filed a lawsuit against her daughter last year.
After hearing the news, Vanessa described the lawsuit as "Disgraceful"
Sofia claimed that she was hired as a nanny and personal assistant for both
Kobe and Vanessa.
According to court documents, Sofia was stating that:
"She had worked as a long-time personal assistant and nanny for both Kobe and Vanessa. Kobe promised to take care of her for the rest of her life. Kobe Bryant’s promises did not see the light of day as he is now deceased, and Vanessa Bryant took each and every step she could to void and cancel all of Kobe Bryant’s promises made to [Laine].”
Consequently, Vanessa denied her mom's claims on a statement:
"My mother is continuing to try and find ways to extort a financial windfall from our family, she was never my or Kobe's personal assistant, nor was she a nanny. I have always been a stay-at-home mother and my husband and I were our daughter's full-time care givers."

As for now, a settlement for the lawsuit went public on August 6th.
Meaning that Sofia herself had settled the lawsuit.
Until this moment, the resolution was not disclosed.
