Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, is Emma Thompson 's new movie, presented at the Sundance Film Festival 2022
directed by Sophie Hyde and with Daryl McCormack as a co-protagonist, and it has received various acclamations
after the screening at the festival.
In the movie, we follow Nancy Stokes, a retired teacher and recently widowed woman, that lived in a
lackluster marriage for over 30 years, and now she wants to learn what she was missing while being with
her husband. That's when she calls a male escort, to help her find out what she doesn't know
about sex professionally, ending up with a man called Leo Grande knocking on her door,
a charismatic and enchanting gentleman that treats her like nobody ever has, someone that you wouldn't
believe might even exist, being as perfect as he is, but he has to deal with Nancy's barriers,
who is extremely tight and difficult to get close to, after a life so boring that she doesn't even want to talk about it.
We follow both of them as Leo is trying to do his work, and Nancy is trying to break up her defenses and let him
and they both get close to each other in a way so special that just warms your heart
A 'coming-of-late-middle-age drama' some critics called it because Emma Thompson 's character is
discovering herself, her needs, her desires, and we don't get to see that a lot. There's not a whole lot of media
dedicated to old people harmonizing with their feelings and understanding their needs, and Sophie Hyde
does it in a way so charming that you will fall in love with the characters.
A tasteful dramedy that will keep you just interested enough with the amazing performances and
the right amount of plot twists.
We can't wait to see it on theaters.
