The Worst Person In The World, a Norwegian movie directed by Joachim Trier and starred by Renate Reinsve
received two Academy Awards nominations, one for Best Original Screenplay, and one for Best International
Feature Film.
Since the movie first aired at the Cannes Film Festival, everyone who has seen the movie
has been immediately in love with everything about the movie, with Renate Reinsve, who is
the main protagonist of this film, winning the Best Actress category at the Cannes Film Festival
and been consistently receiving accolades for her acting and interpretation, the most recent
being the nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role by the BAFTAs, that people
believe she has a high chance of winning, but we have no way of finding out until March 13,
that's when the ceremony is airing.
The Worst Person In The World is a film in 12 chapters, a prologue, and an epilogue, as
the intro of the movie states, and through it, we follow Julie, who is constantly struggling
with her identity, and finding her true calling.
She starts the movie as a medicine student, but she quickly understands that she doesn't
really wanted that, she just wanted the status associated with doctors, being clever, the
best of the best, something that she struggles with constantly throughout the movie,
as well as her troubled relationship with a man much older than her.
We follow Julie through 4 years of her life, and it's really a wild ride, full of emotions,
and she's definitely the type of character that makes it really easy for you to
understand and support her, you just want things to go well for her, because maybe
you see a little bit of yourself in her, even tho she's not perfect, but she's definitely not
the worst person in the world.
