Alex Garland is a prolific director, and we already know that, and like every great mind that there is, opinions
about their work are often polarizing, and is no surprise that 'Men' is receiving some mixed reviews
a few days before its release, on May 20th, starring Oscar nominee Jesse Buckley, currently having a
84% Tomatometer with 56 reviews, and a 66 Metascore with 25 critic reviews.
Some are calling it a complete hit on the feminist horror genre, and some are calling a pretentious piece of arthouse
junk, so is up to you to discover the truth, and which side are you agreeing with.
Although his previous two directorial credits, 'Annihilation' and 'Ex Machina' are mystery thrillers,
'Men' is the first time that Garland is diving into the horror genre, with psychological horror nonetheless,
and some people are completely disturbed by what he did with the screenplay, where we follow
Jesse Buckley, playing Harper, that moves to the English rural area to live on her own, and being
so far away from society and people, she starts getting stalked by someone or something from around,
and no one seems to believe that this is happening to her, and slowly starts getting darker and darker,
and more dangerous for her as a woman living alone in a isolated area.
If you know the previous Alex Garland's movie, you might know what to expect for this run, but 'Men'
looks like it will be a surprise for anybody, and you can either love it or hate it, but it will make you feel
something that is for sure.
