The latest Blumhouse and Paramount production, 'The Black Phone', just released in theaters
and the response from the audience and critics is a lot more positive than what everyone expected from the movie.
With a name as corny and literal as 'The Black Phone', an element we already see multiple times in the trailer,
and learn that it is the essential plot element, it was expected from everyone that this was going to be
just another try at horror cinema, ineffective and soulless, as many of these blockbuster horror pictures are.
After the first trailer, we were probably all expecting a shitty movie no different from the rest, like
the other thousand generic kidnapping movies that there are, where we get to follow the victims trying
to escape and fail, or succeed, but this time with a rather fantastic element involved, that's trying to help
our main protagonist: the souls of the past victims.
The movie is well made, well acted, and surprising, collecting an 86% Tomatometer from critics and a
'Certified Fresh' badge and a 93% from Audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
People are calling it a fun and emotional ride, with great pacing and effective writing and suspense,
so if you're into horror and would like tense moments and great anxiety-inducing scenes, 'The Black Phone'
would be perfect for you.
