Beyoncé has had her fans on hold, but finally, the artist has released Renaissance. The album is the first in six years, after Lemonade. The album has a total of 16 tracks with which she rewards fans for their long wait. On her website, the Grammy winner has said that her long-awaited album was recorded during the nearly three years of the pandemic in which she was as creative as she felt.
Beyoncé talked about how recording her album allowed her to take refuge from everything that was going on outside due to Covid-19. It is worth remembering that the first months of the pandemic, the world was paralyzed and all the people were sheltered in their homes in panic of what could happen to them. Some people took refuge in the music, and although Beyoncé has taken a while, she has finally given her fans what they so desperately needed.
Throughout "Renaissance" we have the testimony of the sounds Queen Bey was looking for not only on the album but for her to feel accompanied as well. The Grammy winner took inspiration from rhythms like the seventies, eighties and nineties, artists such as Donna Summer, disco, soul, funk, dancehall, afro beat, among others. In addition, the whole album is full of samples of artists of great inspiration for her, for example, in Break my soul the first and only advance of the album, Beyoncé took inspiration from two artists whom she incorporated in this production; Robin S. and Big Freedia.
The result is what she calls 'Act 1', the first of three. The artist defines her album as a place "free of judgment, a place to be free of perfectionism… a place to scream, to let go, to feel free".
