This year marked 22 years since the release of the first High School Musical movie. For several months there rumors of a possible reunion of the entire main cast, namely: Zac Efron (Troy), Vanessa Hudgens (Gabriella), Ashley Tisdale (Sharpay), Corbin Bleu (Chad), Monique Coleman (Taylor) and Lucas Grabeel (Ryan). The rumors started after Vanessa and Zac uploaded photos to their social networks at the gates of the famous East High school. In addition, multiple videos of KayCee Stroh inside the corridors of the insistute and comments from other cast members such as Bart Johnson, who plays Coach Bolton also fueled the rumors.
However, months go by and there is no word of the desired reunion with the original cast that fans have been dreaming of for so long, and the fact is that the main characters have not been seen together since HSM3. In fact, the closest we have come to witnessing this reunion was a virtual Zoom meeting during the pandemic. Now, more than half of the cast has gathered. Vanessa, Corbin, Lucas and the others have attended in person at Back To The Musical World 2, an event that took place in Paris. Also in attendance were Kenny Ortega, director of the trilogy, and Drew Seeley, who voiced Troy Bolton during HSM1. In addition, there was a very important moment in this reunion, as Vanessa and Drew sang a part of 'Breaking Free' the most popular song of the first movie.
High School Musical was one of the most important and influential movies of its time. Moreover, it still continues to be influential, as Disney + is developing 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series'.
