In recent years in the world of film and television we have seen a lot of reboots and remakes, so it is no surprise that now comes a remake of 'White Men Can't Jump,' this time starring the famous rapper Jack Harlow making his acting debut and alongside Sinqua Walls. Both take the place of Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes, who had great chemistry in the 1992 original film, so Harlow and Walls have their work cut out for them. The reboot will once again focus on two unlikely allies who team up to scam street gamblers with their basketball skills.
This remake has been directed by filmmaker Calmatic, who has created music videos for Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams and Lil Nas X. It also features performances by Teyana Taylor, Laura Harrier, Vince Staples, Myles Bullock and the late Lance Reddick. Regarding this version, Rosie Perez, one of the stars of the original film, commented, "I hope they bring back the chemistry, the same chemistry that [Harrelson, Snipes and I] had. We've remained friends over the years, not 'Hollywood friends,' but real friends who call each other and say, 'Let's hang out.' The secret was in the casting, it's the most fun I've ever had on a project and it's undeniable that, 30 years later, that chemistry is still palpable."
The original film, directed by Ron Shelton, became a hit and an almost cult film, emphasizing its stars as big names in Hollywood and giving buddy comedies a new lease of life.
White men can't jump will premiere next May 19 on Hulu.
