With just days to go before Pixar's 27th film Elemental hits theaters, the animated production was screeneat the Cannes Film Festival and with it the first reactions to this highly anticipated work are out. This project comes a year after the company released its previous work Lightyear. The film will hit theaters on June 16, the same day as The Flash.
It was through social networks that the different media that were able to enjoy the screening of the film that took place during the Cannes Film Festival, shared their first reactions to this long awaited feature film. Teresa Lacson, television critic for the site Collider, said that the story is very similar to Zootopia, but has an even stronger message. She also praised the score is wonderful, as well as the animation.
For her part, Glitter magazine's entertainment specialist Nikki Fowler detailed that Elemental is a dream come true and also praised the animation for being colorful and vibrant, while Chloé Valmary of Cineserie found Elemental to be good, but several steps behind other recent Pixar releases, such as Inside Out or Soul.
Luke Hearfield of Evening Standard revealed that, for him, Elemental is a reliable mix of vibrant animation and imagination, defining the main characters of the story as charming. Matt Neglia shared the idea of the Awards Watch site, who shared that the film could become one of Pixar's best titles, pointing out that the love story in the film is very intelligent and emotional.
The film debuted on the Rotten Tomatoes website with a score of 64%. Not bad, but very low for a Disney film. We are still waiting to hear what fans have to say about the movie.
