Pride month started today, June 1, and with it, comes the first trailer for Showtime's new series 'Fellow Travelers,' in which we will see Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey being lovers. In the trailer you can see the chemistry of both actors and how this episodic story will dazzle everyone. According to this trailer, 'Fellow Travelers' will not tell a linear story, but apparently, we will see frames of the couple's story. Bailey will play Tim Laughlin, a sincere and optimistic young man, while Bomer will play "Hawk" Fuller, a charismatic man who avoids intimacy.
'Fellow Travelers' is based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Mallon and is adapted by Academy Award nominee Ron Nyswaner, an experienced screenwriter known for his work on the series Homeland. The fiction will actually be more of a mini-series with only eight episodes and will chronicle the years and adventures of the couple from their first meeting in the 1950s during the McCarthy era, to the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s. In addition, Fellow Travelers is a love story and political thriller, chronicling the volatile romance of two very different men who meet in the shadow of McCarthy-era Washington.
"The nuance of a complicated and volatile queer relationship is the balance of power, and that's what's amazing about Tim and Hawk. Every sex scene is a meticulous examination of power," Bailey told Vanity Fair. "There's a level of trust and intimacy that's even more valuable when society is against you," Bomer added.
The cast also includes Allison Williams, Jelani Alladin, Noah J. Ricketts, Linus Roache Will Brill, Chris Bauer, Erin Neufer, Matt Visser, Christine Horne and David Tomlinson.
The series comes this fall to Paramount Plus.
