Marvel fans are expecting a lot from its new series 'Secret Invasion'. However, it has caused controversy among some people in the Hollywood environment, after it was revealed that the opening scene of the new Disney+ series was made by artificial intelligence (AI). At the beginning of the first episode, aliens are seen to go unnoticed because they adopt humanoid figures in constantly changing shades of green. In fact, this was all done by the AI, as acknowledged by director Ali Selim. Method Studios issued a statement revealing how they have made the intro of the series starring Samuel L. Jackson.
"It came directly out of the shape-shifting identity of the Skrull world, you know, of wondering who did this, who is this," Selim told Polygon. "We would talk to them about ideas and themes and words, and the computer would go and do something. And then we could change that a little bit using words," he added. For its part, Method Studios issued a statement revealing how they went about making the intro for the series starring Samuel L. Jackson. "The production process was highly collaborative and interactive, with a dedicated focus on this specific application of an AI toolset."
"It involved a tremendous effort by talented art directors, animators (proficient in both 2D and 3D), artists and developers. They employed conventional techniques to craft all other aspects of the project," they revealed.
In fact, this has reawakened the fear of artificial intelligence replacing the work of creatives, which is one of the reasons why negotiations between the Screenwriters Guild of America (WGA) and the studios and platforms failed. However, Method Studios stated that artificial intelligence is "just one of the tools" used by its artists.
