If U.S. lawsuits are already very cinematic, the one that pitted Gwyneth Paltrow against retired optometrist Terry Sanders earlier this year was certainly one that would look great on screen. Hence, a production company has decided to turn that ski accident lawsuit, which the actress and businesswoman eventually won, into a documentary. In fact, the lawsuit settled a collision between them on a Utah ski slope at Deer Valley Resort in 2016. Sanders, a 76-year-old retiree, sued the performer for $300,000 claiming she had left him with a concussion, four broken ribs and emotional distress. Gwyneth, for her part, countersued him demanding a single dollar and that he pay her attorneys' fees.
But even during the trial itself, there was everything: Taylor Swift snuck in, Paltrow claimed that her loss was greater because she lost "a day and a half of skiing," the actress' looks went viral and became fashionable, and there were even phrases that are already part of the trial's popular lore, with Sanders' "You skied on my damn back" and Paltrow's final "I wish you the best".
Now, the production company Optomen, specialized in this kind of work after doing or being in process the trials of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard or Britney Spears and her father, James Spears, as well as the divorce between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, has decided to continue with this series, which many already know as Vs, tilizing the aforementioned civil trial for the British division of Warner Bros. Discovery Group.
As far as is known so far, the documentary, titled Gwyneth vs Terry: The Ski Crash Trial, will be divided into two parts and both will be released later this year, but much later, closer to the ski season.
