Sylvester Stallone's life and career will be the subject of an upcoming documentary available on Netflix. The project proposal will explore the performer's beginnings in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood until he became a Hollywood icon with franchises such as Rocky, Rambo and The Indestructibles. In fact, this announcement comes on the heels of the success of Arnold, the Netflix documentary about fellow Australian actor and former bodybuilder. In the teaser, Stallone gives a series of positive advice about life.
"What's healthier - to live under the illusion that you could have been great or that you actually have the opportunity to be great and then you blow it and realize you're a failure?" says the actor. "If you're ever on a train, that's when your life is speeding by. Nothing inspires more than taking your story and making a ball," adds the star, making a basketball-throwing gesture.
The Sly documentary was directed by Thom Zimny and is expected to hit Netflix's catalog in November. "For nearly 50 years Sylvester Stallone entertained millions with his iconic characters and blockbuster franchises, from Rocky and Rambo to The Indestructibles. This retrospective documentary offers an intimate look at the actor, screenwriter, director and producer, paralleling the inspirational roles he embodied with the indelible characters he brought to life," a statement from the streaming service said.
Although he rose to fame when he starred in Rocky, which won the Oscar for Best Picture in 1977, the actor recently rose to prominence with the crime series Tulsa King, in which he plays a mob boss who, after completing a 25-year prison sentence, must set up criminal operations in Tulsa, Oklahoma, without knowing anyone in the territory.
