Steve Asbell, president of 20th Century Studios, already anticipated in an interview published last year that A Haunting in Venice, the third installment of the Agatha Christie adaptation series at the hands of Kenneth Branagah, would be totally different from Death on the Nile: "We have a third script written by Michael Green, which is quite a bold change in genre and tone. It's a post-war Venice and an adaptation of one of the lesser-known novels." After several images, a teaser and this new trailer, one thing is clear: we are facing one of the must-see products of this 2023 for lovers of the horror genre.
In fact, A Haunting in Venice is the definitive leap in the series of Agatha Christie films into horror. In addition, the usual tone of these projects to date has been thriller and suspense, flirting slightly with that genre at certain times. But now it seems that Branagah returns to his origins, with his beloved Frankenstein, and rubs shoulders with Michelle Yeoh to offer a product that could dialogue without any problem with Álex de la Iglesia's Venicefrenzy. The film tells the following story: "In post-World War II Venice, Poirot, now retired and living in his own exile, reluctantly attends a séance when one of the guests is murdered, leaving it up to the former detective to once again uncover the killer".
In addition to Branagah, who directs and stars, and the Oscar-winning Michelle Yeoh, the cast also includes Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, Jude Hill, Kyle Allen, Kelly Reilly, Riccardo Scamarcio, Camille Cottin, Ali Khan and Emma Laird.
The feature film will hit theaters on September 15 in theaters and will be 20th Century Studios' next big event.
