Adventure Time calls its friends! A few weeks ago HBO Max surprised its users by revealing a new spin-off series of the much-loved 'Adventure Time', after almost 5 years since the last episode starring Jake and his faithful dog Finn. In that sense, apart from them, it was announced that for the return of this animated show, they will focus on their opposite versions: Fionna and Cake. As confirmed by Warner Bros. Discovery, the official synopsis will focus on Fionna and Cake, who "will embark on a multiversal jumping adventure and a journey of self-discovery. Meanwhile, a powerful new antagonist determined to track them down and erase them from existence lurks in the shadows."
In fact, the Cartoon Network Studios-produced strip, which will have Adam Muto as showrunner and executive producer, will bring back the alternate versions of Jake and Finn, which we first saw in the third season of the original series, titled "Fionna & Cake" aired in 2011. In addition, during the Max Original Animation Presents panel at 'San Diego Comic-con 2023', it was official that 'Fionna & Cake' will premiere on August 31, 2023, so there's almost nothing left to see them in action.
The animated series will feature ten half-hour episodes. This show will join other spin-off projects from the renowned franchise that are already in production within HBO Max, such as the four specials titled 'Adventure Time: Distant Lands', which premiered in 2020.
Indeed, there is no doubt that Finn and Jake fans are happy to see more of the world of Ooo, the land where we see Finn the human and Jake the dog accomplish different missions and have different adventures every day. Now, we just have to wait for Fionna and Cake's new adventures to come to Max.
