Viola Davis will star in and produce G20, an action thriller produced by MRC, which has the approval of the SAG-AFTRA committee, the actors' guild, to begin development in the midst of the ongoing strike. While the permit has been approved, the Oscar-winning actress, as well as the producers involved, have no immediate plans to resume production on this project for which there are no plot details. The actress, known worldwide for her roles in such productions as 'How To Get Away With Murder,' 'Fences,' 'Women King,' and others, has decided that it is not appropriate for the project to remain in production.
Viola Davis herself has said: “I love this movie, but I do not feel that it would be appropriate for this production to move forward during the strike. I appreciate that the producers on the project agree with this decision. JuVee Productions and I stand in solidarity with actors, SAG/AFTRA and the WGA.” Deadline reported.
G20 joins the list of high-profile projects that have obtained a tentative agreement. In fact, the Actors Guild has delivered more than 100 tentative agreements to both films and series since the start of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Other stellar projects that have landed the deal so far include Apple TV+ series Tehran , New Line's Ishana Night Shyamalan's The Watchers , Glenn Close's The Summer Book and A24 titles Mother Mary and Death of a Unicorn. Earlier this week, The Grey House, a Civil War spy drama series that Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman produce, also landed a deal.
So far the actors' union has reached nearly 100 tentative agreements to films and series since the union's strike began earlier this month.
