Since its theatrical debut, Sound of Freedom, directed by Alejandro Monteverde and starring Jim Caviezel, Mira Sorvino and Bill Camp, has captivated audiences. The film is the story of Tim Ballard, a U.S. Homeland Security agent who risked his life to combat child trafficking. Based on true events, Ballard embarks on a dangerous mission to save a young girl from a group of traffickers.
Today it became known that one of the producers of the film is under arrest for child trafficking. Fabian Marta was charged with the crime of child abduction on July 21 of this year, two days later he was captured by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police. In fact, according to the U.S. media Newsweek, the 51 year old man allegedly invested in the film under the name of Fabian Marta & Family, which appears in the list of almost 7 thousand contributors to the financing of the film. Marta is charge with first-degree kidnapping for "abducting a non-family member under the age of 14 without parental consent". All this became known because Angel Studios, the film's production company, uses crowdfunding to raise the capital needed for each of its productions.
The Sound of Freedom sypnosis states: "After rescuing a child from ruthless traffickers, a federal agent learns that the child's sister is still being captive and decides to embark on a dangerous mission to save her. With time running out, he quits his job and travels deep into the Colombian jungle, risking his life to free her from a fate worse than death".
