World premiere for the long awaited film 'Killers of the Flower Moon'

Limited release ruled out. The film Killers of the Flower Moon, directed by the acclaimed Martin Scorsese, has confirmed its arrival in international theaters before being released on streaming. In the United States, its theatrical release will be October 6, 2023. This announcement comes after the historical fiction made its debut at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, where with critical acclaim and a standing ovation received the film. In addition, the duo formed by Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro exploits their remarkable synergy after reuniting on the same project after 30 years.

Based on the book of the same name by journalist David Grann, the story takes place in 1920s Oklahoma and deals with a series of brutal murders involving members of the Osage Nation, an indigenous community rich in oil resources. These crimes, which became known as the Reign of Terror, shook the community and highlighted the racial and economic tensions of the time. The film's main art portrays Ernest Burkhart (DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), a couple living an unlikely romance amidst a backdrop of uncertainty and betrayal. Also, Robert De Niro plays the ambitious businessman William Hale, an antagonistic figure in the historical drama. Eric Roth is the one who write the screenplay, with the participation of Martin Scorsese himself.

In fact, translating Grann's work to the screen required some rewrites. Deadline reports that, according to the director, the first version was more of a detective thriller than a comprehensive account of the culture and dynamics of the indigenous community.
