John Wick fans have been able to enjoy a memorable action series with the great Keanu Reeves on screen. But even the toughest have moments of weakness and after three installments, the actor himself wanted to get rid of his character. This would explain the denouement of John Wick 4 which initially had another much less ambiguous ending. So, we will not see Keanu Reeves in the costume of the already mythical character again?
The development of John Wick 5 is official, but the latest news suggests that Keanu Reeves would not like to participate. Keanu really wanted to end the role of John, According to the film series producer Basil Iwanyk. Iwanyk told Collider during the presentation of the prequel The Continental. Everything has an explanation, proving that John Wick is also human.
"After the second, third and fourth movies, doing these movies is very exhausting and it destroys Keanu, physically and emotionally," he explained. "At the end, he always says, 'I can't do this again,' and we agree with him. The guy is just a shadow of himself because he just goes and tries. He was like, 'I definitely want to be killed at the end of this movie.' We thought, 'You know, we'll leave a little 10% option.'"
And so they did. The ambiguous ending of the film was a consequence of those discussions. Iwanyk talked about how close the team is after so long working together and they don't want to miss a new installment for anything in the world. The bond is so close that he compared Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski as Paul McCartney and John Lennon of the Beatles.
