Via Deadline we have the first trailer and poster for 'The End We Start From', the big screen adaptation of Megan Hunter's novel directed by Mahalia Belo from a screenplay written by Alice Birch ('Normal People', 'Inseparable'). The film places us in the midst of a mysterious environmental crisis, with London submerged under floodwaters. A woman - played by Jodie Comer - gives birth to her first child, Z. Days later, the family have to leave their home in search of safety. As they move from place to place, from shelter to shelter, their journey traces both fear and wonder, as Z's tiny fists cling to life. Fans really love Comer and in fact, she has a long and impressive list of accolades to prove it. In addition, everyone know her for her roles as Villanelle in the highly rated thriller series as Killing Eve.
'The End We Start From' is a surprisingly beautiful story of motherhood in a terrifying environment: a dangerous and unstable family world of people forced to become refugees. Yet even as the country is crumbling around them, this family's world revolves around love and kindness.
Joel Fry, Mark Strong, Gina McKee, Katherine Waterston, Benedict Cumberbatch and Nina Sosanya complete the main cast of this British production from SunnyMarch, Hera Pictures and BBC Films that has the financial backing of BFI, C2 Motion Picture Group and Anton, with the latter also in charge of its international sales.
Following festival screenings in Toronto and London, the film will be released in North American theaters on December 8 by Republic Pictures, a film label revived by Paramount Global earlier this year, and one of the first films to be distributed by the company.
