Eight years ago, The Hunger Games film saga seemed to have come to an end with the release of Mockingjay Part 2 (2015); however, some time later, writer Suzanne Collins would show that there is more to tell in the dystopian universe she created. Through Ballad of Songbirds and Serpents, a book whose film adaptation will hit the screen on November 16, the author delves into the past of the cruel President Snow. In fact, at this moment in Panem's history, Coriolanus is a young mentor about to begin his participation in the tenth edition of the games organized to punish the rebels.
The second trailer for the Lionsgate-produced film delves into the figure now played by Tom Blyth (Billy the Kid), who at 18 aims to regain the prestige his family lost after the Capitol War. Also, at the time of the tribute harvest, he is assigned to serve as a mentor and is assigned to a resourceful teenager from the impoverished 12th district: Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler).
In the film's cast, Hunter Schafer plays Tigris Snow, cousin of Coriolanus; Jason Schwartzman becomes Lucretius Lucky Flickerman, host of the games and an ancestor of the charismatic Caesar Flickerman; and Viola Davis takes on the role of Dr. Volumnia Gaul, in charge of the deadly elements in the competition. In addition, the others actors are Burn Gorman, Fionnula Flanagan, Ashley Liao, among others. Francis Lawrence, director of three titles in The Hunger Games saga, retakes the creative helm in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. The film will be available in the United States beginning November 17.
