Our Flag Means Death was a series favorite after its premiere last year, and since its season finale, fans are already looking forward to seeing Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby) and Blackbeard (Taika Waititi) and their romance across the seven seas again. As apparent from the first few epodes, the series follows aspiring pirate Bonnet as he attempts to become a legendary buccaneer. But after crossing swords with Waititi's Captain Blackbeard, he discovers more than just high seas romance.
The second season of Our Flag Means Death picks up where the first season ended, with Stede and Blackbeard still separated. But their love story is far from over. Here's the official synopsis: "After trading the seemingly charmed life of a gentleman for that of a swashbuckling buccaneer, Stede became captain of the pirate ship Revenge. Struggling to gain the respect of a potentially mutinous crew, Stede's fortunes changed after a fateful encounter with the infamous Captain Blackbeard. To their surprise, Stede and Blackbeard, so different from each other, found more than friendship on the high seas…they found love. Now they must survive.
The second season returns with Samson Kayo, Vico Ortiz, Ewen Bremner, Joel Fry, Matthew Mahe, Kristian Nairn, Con O'Neill, David Fane, Samba Schutte, Nat Faxon and Leslie Jones. Ruibo Qian, Madeleine Sami, Anapela Polataivao and Erroll Shand are the new additions to this season of the queer comedy, while Minnie Driver and Bronson Pinchot will be aboard the frigate as guest stars. Our Flag Means Death returns October 5 to HBO Max with three episodes, and the eight-episode season continues with two new episodes each week until the season finale on October 26.
