Moordale High School closed its doors in the third season of Sex Education, but that didn't mean the end of the series. Fortunately, the adventures of Otis (Asa Butterfield) and his friends have continued for one more season, which hit the platform last Thursday. However, there is no room in it for two key characters from the series, who have now been left out of the new center and thus also out of Sex Education. We are talking about Ola and Lily, the characters played by Patricia Allison and Tanya Reynolds, respectively. During the second season the two became close friends, almost inseparable, and already during the third season they formed a couple as such.
However, a stupid argument about aliens made the relationship crack, to finally reconcile again and become a couple again. However, none of that remains in the fourth and final season of the series, as both Ola and Lily have completely disappeared. Laurie Nunn, creator of the series and who has already given explanations at the time about the series finale, spoke out in another interview about the departure of Allison and Reynolds and what would have happened to their characters: "In the third season of the series those stories seemed to have come to a really lovely end, and I felt that Lily and Ola's characters ended up in a really happy place. Especially because they're a lesbian couple, I wanted them to not suffer any more pain or trauma and to be happy together. So it seemed like a very organic place to leave them," Nunn confesses.
Although it was sad, this made room for new characters in the fourth and final season, now available on Netflix.
