Marvel is aware that they are not going through their best moment and have decided to give a blow on the table to try to channel the television course of the MCU. The first step has been to throw away all the work done for 'Daredevil: Born Again' and start again almost from scratch the expected series starring Charlie Cox. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel fired Chris Ord and Matt Corman, the head writers of 'Daredevil: Born Again', at the end of September, as well as the directors hired for the episodes yet to start filming. The reason is that Kevin Feige took a look at what had already been done and concluded that the series was not working.
That means the studio is now looking for new writers and directors to try to come up with a vision for 'Daredevil: Born Again' that lives up to expectations. Apparently, Ord and Corman had opted to make a legal drama with very little in common with the acclaimed Netflix series, plus Cox didn't don the Daredevil suit until the fourth episode.
The idea is to keep some scenes and episodes -in a clear attempt to cut losses-, but there is still the mystery of whether it will fit with the original idea of the series. And here comes another unexpected change from Marvel: the company plans to hire showrunners for its series from now on. The reason? There are several, such as the work of screenwriter Jessica Gao during the post-production work on 'She-Hulk.'
The goal is for the showrunners to write the pilot episodes and leaving aside the idea of commissioning series and checking what works.
