The first trailer for 'Ferrari' was already a statement of intent, and this new footage reaffirms what we've seen: Michael Mann is back in top form and also, Adam Driver will deliver his best performance to date. The film focuses on Alfonso de Portago's famous Mille Miglia race, in which a tire on his car exploded at 250 mph and he and nine spectators were killed in an accident. Even Ferrari had legal problems due to the incident, but in the end everything nothing really happened. In fact, 'Ferrari' opens this Christmas in theaters on December 25.
Michael Mann takes us back to the summer of 1957: "Former racing driver Enzo Ferrari is in crisis. Bankruptcy stalks the company he and his wife, Laura, built from nothing ten years earlier. Their stormy marriage is in the midst of a major crisis as they deal with the death of their son. In this crucial stage, Ferrari will make risky decisions, betting everything on a single race that traverses 1,000 miles across Italy: the Mille Miglia". With our beloved Penélope Cruz as co-star accompanying Driver, 'Ferrari' will show one of the darkest stages of the company specializing in racing and high-end vehicles by putting its focus on the performances of the Hollywood stars mentioned above.
After 'Ferrari', Michael Mann's next stop will be 'Heat 2', the long-awaited prequel (which also doubles as a sequel) to the 1995 cult film starring Robert de Niro, Al Pacino and Val Kilmer. "Meg Gardiner and I wrote the novel Heat 2, which came out just as we were shooting Ferrari," the filmmaker said. "It went very well for us. I plan to shoot it next," confirms the filmmaker, so we can only wait for it to happen.
