Living up to the phrase "no touching the winning team," filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos will once again repeat a formula of great talent for his next film. While the Greek director continues to garner accolades for Poor Things, which weeks ago won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, it now official that his next project with Emma Stone is ready.
In a recent interview with Brazilian media Omelete, cinematographer Robbie Ryan confirmed that together with the director of The Favourite, they have already shot AND, the third collaboration with the Oscar-winning actress. According to the technician, this shoot took place while the visual effects team was finishing post-production work on Poor Creatures. However, Emma Stone is just one of the many figures in the cast with other recurring stars in Lanthimos' films such as Willem Dafoe, Jesse Plemons and Margaret Qualley.
"It's a very, very exciting movie," said Robbie Ryan. "There are three stories and it's very different from Poor Creatures. He wrote it with Efthimis Filippou, who he worked with on Sacrifice of the Sacred Deer. It's still Yorgos, but there's a different sensibility," he complemented.
Deadline first reported that Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualley would be on board AND in September last year. However, plot details still remain under wraps.
Poor Things, is a film that takes inspiration from Alasdair Gray's novel of the same name, was originally scheduled to be released in theaters this September 8, but due to ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes, the release date was pushed back three months. The film will hit theaters on December 8.
