One of the most beloved franchises is back. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the new installment of the saga previously starring Andy Serkis as Caesar, has released a new trailer and has made it clear that the story is more alive than ever. This film will mark the first production by Disney since it acquired 20th Century Fox in April 2019. It is the fourth part of the saga, which began in 2011 with the direction of Rupert Wyatt in Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Now, far from that plot, Owen Teague relieves Serkis giving life to his son Cornelius in a bigger adventure than all its predecessors.
The new installment of the saga, directed by Wes Ball, will be available in 2024, six years after the last film in the saga, War for the Planet of the Apes. According to a report by Variety, the new feature film will be set several years after the events of that film directed by Matt Reeves, who was also in charge of the first sequel Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. As for the plot, it will follow the descendants of Caesar, the leader of the primates and the main character of the first three films. Following the foundations built under Caesar's guidance, many ape societies have prospered, while humans have regressed to a more primitive existence. In this context, one ape leader seeks to enslave other groups to discover human technology, while another ape seeks freedom.
This fourth installment promises to be an exciting addition and continues to stand out for the advanced motion capture technology used along with its talented cast. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes hits theaters on May 24, 2024.
