As part of the 35th anniversary of the iconic comic book series The Sandman, Netflix announced that production of its television adaptation has resumed in London. Previous months, the filming of season 2 faced a pause forced by the Hollywood strikes, but now the team has reconvened and is working at full speed to present the new chapters of the fiction as soon as possible.
The first installment of Sandman, released in August 2022, met with critical and public acclaim, and stood out for its faithfulness to the original work, along with a bold visual narrative. Despite not being an official second season by the streaming service, the continuation of the title was official last December, promising more episodes that will continue to explore the vast and enigmatic mythological universe.
In fact, the writer, whose mastermind originated The Sandman comics along with Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg, has been a central figure in the development of the television series. In a letter to fans, Gaiman expressed his enthusiasm and optimism for the future of the project: "We never know where our dreams will take us. Thirty-five years ago, the first issue of The Sandman was released, marking the beginning of a path that, even then, seemed as improbable as it was impossible."
The second season production promises to take viewers from the garden of Fate to Hell, from the heart of Dreaming to ancient Greece and revolutionary France, and beyond. "Good things are coming," assures the fiction author. In addition, the cast, led by Tom Sturridge as Dream and Mason Alexander Park as Desire, has been instrumental in bringing the multifaceted characters to life, with performances that have resonated deeply with fans.
