Prime Video's animated series, Invincible established itself as a phenomenon in the superhero genre since its debut in 2021. Inspired by Robert Kirkman's comics, the show captured the public's attention with its fusion of intense action and violence and deep plots. After a hiatus of more than two years, the first four episodes of the second season premiered in November 2023, and this time audiences won't have to wait too long for its return, as it was confirmed that the second part will arrive in 2024.
In fact, the central plot centers on Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), son of an alien governor named Omni-Man (J. K. Simmons). The story explores the young man's challenges as he discovers hidden truths about his father and his effort not to emulate his footsteps. On his journey, he encounters Angstrom Levy (Sterling K. Brown), a supervillain who wishes to kill every version of Mark that exists in the multiverse by ruining his life in an alternate reality.
The episode marking the halfway point of the current season ended in a thrilling climax with the return of his Omni-Man, who announced that the Viltrumites, the race to which he belongs, are out to execute him for abandoning his post. Moreover, they have plans to invade Earth, so the protagonist must figure out how to save both his planet and his estranged father.
In fact, Invincible has positioned itself as an influential proposition in adult animated entertainment by containing a renewed and mature perspective of a superhero. Its sequel, scheduled for early 2024, promises to maintain the action, drama and humor as before. With a third season already confirmed, we can only wait for more news on the saga.
