After debuting in 2010 with 'The Myth of the American Sleepover' David Robert Mitchell entered through the big door in the lives of many moviegoers in general and horror lovers in particular with his award-winning and praised 'It Follows'; an exercise in filmic horror, at the very least, very interesting, in which sexuality, simmered atmospheres and nightmarish images captivated people from all over the world.
For those who saw the film, the ending left many doubts, and of course, the fans really wanted a sequel, however, over the years, they never had an answer until now. If you are one of those thousands of people who loved the film, there is incredible news, as Mitchell will return to the 'It Follows' universe in a sequel that will begin filming next 2024 and will be be available, hopefully, in our theaters throughout 2025 under the title 'They Follow.'
According to reports, the folks at Neon Studio, who bagged the Oscar for their outstanding 'Parasite' will co-produce the film and handle its international distribution. However, what is really important is that, in addition to Mitchell, who will repeat as director and screenwriter, 'They Follow' will once again feature Maika Monroe in the lead role after her remarkable work in the original.
It remains to be seen if along with the performer who we have seen in titles like 'The Guest' we will have more members of the cast of 'It Follows' as Keir Gilchrist and, of course, what will be the premise of this sequel. Of course, we'll have all the updates on any news about what is already one of the most anticipated projects of the 2025 film season.
