Saoirse Ronan, at 29, has established herself as one of the most prominent figures on the contemporary scene. With four Oscar nominations, her brilliant career includes appearances in films such as Little Women, Lady Bird, Brooklyn and The Grand Budapest Hotel, among others. The latest chapter in Ronan's career is Bad Apples, a comedy thriller, where she will take on the challenge of playing a teacher. In this new project, the actress immerses herself in the role of Maria, a dedicated elementary school educator.
In fact, from a statement released by Deadline, the film's synopsis details the journey of Maria, who struggles to inspire a class of ten-year-olds. Her mission has different obsacles, as a rebellious and disruptive student, triggering a series of events that lead her to make unusual decisions, including accidentally locking the "problem student" in her own home.
Under the direction of Swedish writer/director Jonatan Etzler, this film represents his foray into English-language cinema. The production, by Pulse Films (Mogul Mowgli), will begin shooting in the UK during the spring of 2024. HanWay Films produce the film, generating positive expectations from CEO Gabrielle Stewart, who expressed her enthusiasm in a statement, "We have been excitedly following the development of this brilliant script with one of the most exciting directors emerging from Scandinavia. This is a very juicy role for Saoirse Ronan, who will bring to life all the drama, comedy and brutal tension of this unique role. Pulse are producers who make cutting edge cinema and we are thrilled to be working with them."
In fact, Bad Apples is already one of the most anticipated films in the world of cinema.
