Renowned film director Ron Howard, famous for his acclaimed A Beautiful Mind (2001), will begin production on his next survival thriller, Eden, at the end of November. This feature film, previously titled Origin Of Species, has generated great anticipation among movie lovers, especially after the announcement of two new additions to the cast. Sydney Sweeney, known for her role in Euphoria and for her participation in the series The White Lotus, joins the cast of the film. Vanessa Kirby, who appear in the film Napoleon alongside Joaquin Phoenix, will also be part of this project alongside Sweeney.
The film's story is based on an unsolved enigma that took place on a remote island in the Galapagos. The film promises to explore just how far humans are willing to go in their pursuit of happiness. Production will take place in Queensland, Australia, with additional filming on the Galapagos Islands. Howard has already worked in Queensland, having filmed his last thriller, Thirteen Lives (2022), in the same location.
The production is led by Imagine Entertainment's Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and Karen Lunder, known for their work on The Da Vinci Code (2006). According to a statement to Variety, the producers said: "The film tackles the human condition in an unexpected way, through absurd twists, funny, engaging and, above all, thrilling, suspenseful moments.
It is relevant to mention that Kirby and Sweeney fill the roles originally intended for actresses Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl) and Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People). The others actores part of Eden are Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore), Ana de Armas (Blonde) and Daniel Brühl (The Alienist). Eden is thus positioned as a project that deserves special attention.
