Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is the anime version of the movie with the same characters we first saw. It consists of eight half-hour episodes that start from the exact same story and then take it in a completely new direction, making it a kind of remake with multiverse tones and at the same time a reboot using the same characters, which despite being an anime version, have the voices of the actors from the film.
When Scott Pilgrim vs. the World was was for first time in theaters in 2010, its status as a cult film was instantly apparent. The way it was filmed, its characters, the fast pace and its narrative freedom made it a unique film, truly different, even ahead of its time. Its cast was astonishing and many of those who participated in the film were not yet the stars they later became. The direction was in charge of a cult filmmaker, Edgar Wright, the same of Shaun of the Dead (2004) and Hot Fuzz (2007). The adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's comic book was in charge of Wright himself (also producer) and Michael Bacall.
Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) is a young man in his early twenties who lives in Toronto, Canada, and has an indie rock band. He lives in the house of his friend Wallace Wells (Kieran Culkin). He dreams of an ideal girl until one day she appears in real life, Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). The crush upends his entire life, but what Scott Pilgrim doesn't expect is a challenge: Ramona Flowers' ex-partners, whom he must confront. It is not a metaphor, although deep down it is, but he must fight against them.
You can now enjoy all its episodes on Netflix.
