A year after it was announced that Henry Cavill was partnering with Amazon Studios to develop a series of Warhammer 40,000 movies and TV shows, the plan to build a universe with series and movies is officially moving forward. In fact, through its official website Games Workshop, the company behind the popular role-playing game, confirmed that the deal with Amazon is ready and that they are moving to the next stage. "Now comes the fun part: finalizing all the creative details with our partners, writing the first script and putting it into production. Which Warhammer 40,000 stories should we tell first? Should we start with a movie or a TV series? Both?" the statement reads.
Games Workshop also announced that they are putting together a group of "elite screenwriters", each with their own particular passion for Warhammer, to ensure that the material coming to the screen is as faithful as possible to the characters and setting of the game. In addition, the company reiterates the participation of Henry Cavill, actor known for his roles as Superman. As previously revealed the performer, who is a big fan of the property, will be executive producer and will have a role in front of cameras. According to the creators of Warhammer 40,000, the Brit will bring "his pen, sword and/or spear to the project."
Finally, Games Workshop acknowledges that this is a mega-ambitious project and that it is likely to take two to three years to reach the screen. However, it is great news for fans that things are already underway and that they are working on recruiting the right team for the Warhammer 40,000 film and TV productions.
