An excited hug was shared by the trio starring in My Life with the Walter Boys when showrunner Melanie Halsall announced to them that the teen series had been renewed by Netflix. "We have the green light for a second season," the project's creative head confirmed via a phone call with Nikki Rodriguez, Noah LaLonde and Ashby Gentry. In fact, the 10-episode production premiered Dec. 7 as an adaptation of the novel of the same name written by Ali Novoak, a story of romance and personal growth that had its roots on the free-to-create platform Wattpad.
Since its launch on the video streaming site, the title entered the coveted global Top 10 and reached the top spot among English-language TV series with 12.8 million views between December 11 and 17. Clearly, audiences liked the series, which talks about "love in all its manifestations," as Gentry described it on the TUDUM portal. "We are really happy about the love and support the audience has given the series and can't wait to dive back into the world of Silver Falls and the lives of these characters," also added Melanie Halsall.
The story revolves around Jackie Howard (Rodriguez), a 15-year-old teenager who loses her family in a tragic accident. After growing up with all the comforts of life in New York, she moves to a ranch in Colorado with the person who will be her guardian, her mother's best friend. What's peculiar is that Katherine Walter and her husband not only have guardianship of Jackie, but also care for 10 other teenagers.
My Life with the Walter Boys was born in 2012 as a Wattpad novel; after a couple of years, the teen romance and drama fiction was an official book and now there's a whole series about it.
