After a lucrative deal that began with Army of the Dead (2021), Zack Snyder and Netflix have launched a series of productions for the platform, including the sci-fi franchise Rebel Moon. The first part titled Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire premiered last Friday and managed to position itself among the most played content in the Top 10 globally. Now a new episode is on the way and its director previews what we can expect from it.
In a recent interview with EW, Zack Snyder revealed that Rebel Moon: The Scargiver is essentially going to be a war movie unlike its predecessor. "The sequel is a war movie," the filmmaker said. "We know that Atticus Noble is alive, while Belisarius has tasked him with finding his daughter and returning her to him at all costs. So the stakes are higher for the town from 'hey, we want some of your crop' to now 'you're harboring the most wanted fugitive in the history of the galaxy,'" he advanced.
"It was fun to plan the battle and try to imagine how Kora and the town might stand a chance against a world-destroying spaceship," the director added. In fact, as Snyder points out, the first installment - which featured Sofia Boutella in the lead role - set the stage for the resistance of the Veldt inhabitants. The second, which was made back-to-back, will focus on the clash of these two forces.
At the moment, there's nothing official about a third part of Zack Snyder's space epic. However, Rebel Moon: The Scargiver will arrive on Netflix in April 2024. As for the first part, Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire, it is now available on Netflix and ready for you to watch.
