"After the storm comes the calm," says a popular saying, so after Po managed to achieve the title of Dragon Warrior, it's his turn to find inner peace by becoming a spiritual leader. The problem? We need a successor. This is the main plot of Kung Fu Panda 4, the new installment of the successful animation franchise that has just unveiled its official trailer, marking the return of the iconic martial arts master after almost a decade.
In the recent film, Po is in an action and adventurous environment where he must not only test his skills, but his wisdom and leadership as he attempts to train his replacement, a thieving vixen named Zhen (Awkwafina). Their paths will be interrupted by the new villain, The Chameleon (Viola Davis), a sorceress with the ability to replicate her opponents' bodies, steal their powers and even resurrect old adversaries. This last ability proves the most interesting, as according to the first glimpse, Tai Lung will be back on the prowl.
"[The antagonistic reptile] has set his greedy, glowing eyes on Po's Staff of Wisdom, so in their quest to protect the Valley of Peace, the comical duo will have to work as a team. In the process, they will discover that heroes can be in the most unexpected places," states the official synopsis.
Kung Fu Panda 4 promises to be a thrilling adventure that repeats the success of the previous feature films, which grossed a total of $1.8 billion. The film will hit theaters on March 8, 2024. Pending further news, you can find the franchise titles on the HBO Max and Prime Video platform. On the other hand, spin-off TV series such as The Dragon Warrior and Barbarian Secrets are in the Netflix catalog.
