The year 2024 seems to have a better outlook for the superhero genre after a few flops. The Disney+ platform will welcome this new era with its original series Echo and other compelling Marvel releases will follow.
Echo: It is a spin-off series from Marvel Studios' Hawkeye. It also centers on the story of Maya Lopez, known as Echo, a deaf Native American superheroine with the ability to copy the movements of others. Alaqua Cox reprises her role as Kingpin's (Vincent D'onofrio) goddaughter in the first original UCM series. Premiere date: January 9 on Disney+.
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries: A Marvel Cinematic Universe series that delves into the story of the witch Agatha Harkness, following her appearance in WandaVision. In fact, the story promises to explore more about her origins and her connection to the magical book Darkhold. Also, Kathryn Hahn returns to reprise her role as Agatha. Also, the production is part of Phase 4 of the UCM. Premiere: scheduled to air in 2024 via Disney+.
Deadpool 3: The Movie marks the return of anti-hero Wade Wilson, played by Ryan Reynolds, in the third installment of the successful Deadpool franchise. This new adventure of the character should maintain his classic mix of comedy and action, and will be the first in the series to be part of Marvel Studios, following Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox. Release date: Originally, it was to hit U.S. theaters on May 3, 2024, but there could be a delay due to delayed filming during the actors' strike."
The Boys Season 4: The fourth season of the series will continue its signature satire of superheroes, focusing on a group of vigilantes who confront the Supes, individuals with powers who abuse their abilities. It will also tie in with the end of the first season of Gen V. In fact, the TV adaptation of the comics has earned praise for its critical and dark approach to the superhero genre. Premiere: confirmed for 2024 on Prime Video.
The Penguin: The Batman spin-off series (2022) that focuses on Gotham City's renowned underworld villain. The spinoff will explore the Penguin's rise in the criminal underworld after the events of Matt Reeves' original film. Also, Colin Farrell plays the central character, Oswald Cobblepot. Production is currently in development. Premiere: confirmed for 2024 via HBO Max.
Madame Web: Madame Web is known as a psychic seer with psychic abilities who can see into the world of the Spider-Verse. Actress Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) was cast in the lead role and stars alongside Sydney Sweeney (Julia Carpenter), Isabela Merced (Anya Corazon) and Celeste O'Connor (Spider-Woman). In fact, this will be one of the films that expand Sony's universe of Spider-Man related characters. Release date: February 14, 2024.
