With the second season of Disney+ and Marvel's animated serie 'What If…?' just airing, rumors about the third season are already starting to swirl. Recently, a teaser revealed a glimpse of an upcoming episode featuring established Marvel Cinematic Universe characters like Red Guardian, Bucky Barnes and Bill Foster. The video also revealed a glimpse of Ranger Morales, a new MCU character, leaving fans surprised. According to Phase Zero, members of the creative team behind "What If…?" confirmed that America Ferrera will voice the character of Ranger Morales and, as a huge Barbie fan, series lead writer A.C. Bradley was thrilled with the casting.
"She's great," Bradley said of the actress. "I'm so glad she got flowers as far as Barbie is concerned, because "Barbie" was my favorite movie of the year, my favorite superhero movie, because Barbie is a hero. And America is, too. That was the best thing. So we're very happy that she was willing to come and do this part in the random episode of "What If…?". She was very charming about it," the screenwriter finished.
Ferrera's role in "Barbie" could be the most important of her career so far. However, she is also known for roles in the hit television shows "Ugly Betty" and "Superstore." She has appeared in other films such as "The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants" and "Our Family Wedding". She also has experience with voiceovers, as she lent her voice to Astrid in "How to Train Your Dragon." However, Ferrera has yet to appear in the MCU. Until now.
The third season of "What If…?" does not yet have an official premiere date. However, the previous two seasons are available through Disney+.
