"The most personal thing I've ever done," is how Jennifer Lopez herself escribes This Is Me...Now: A Love Story, an experimental fantasy film that is as much a documentary as it is a musical. In fact, the collaborative project with Prime Video, is a window into the artist's love life, exploring her two courtships leading up to her marriage to Ben Affleck. The release date is in February of this year, coinciding and connecting with the release of her new album This Is Me…. Now.
The announcement of the release was marked by the publication of the official trailer, where JLo deploys a narrative that skirts her well-known image as a hardened romantic and belies her weakness with a series of sequences of high visual impact. Also, the film and the album seem to go hand in hand, a strategy that has gained popularity in the music and film industry in recent years.
In addition to recalling intimate moments of their love story, the feature film also involves her career as an actress, with visual allusions to her roles in romantic comedies such as The Wedding Planner and Marry Me to her action movie roles in 1997's Anaconda and The Mother. Also, the singer is a co-writer along with Matt Walton, with direction by Dave Meyers, known for his work on music videos for Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, among others.
In addition, the visual impact of the effects-packed trailer and dance sequences features a main cast that includes Trevor Jackson, Paul Raci, Bella Gagliano, Brandon Delsid, Ashley Versher, Malcolm Kelner, Alix Angelis, Danielle Larracuente and Matthew Law.
'This is me…Now: A Love Story' will hit prime video on February 16. Just like Jennifer Lopez's abum on the platforms.
