We finally have Anne Hathaway back in romantic comedies. The acclaimed actress joins Nicholas Galitzine to headline Prime Video's new film, The Idea of You. Based on the novel of the same name by Robinne Lee, the story introduces us to Solène, a 40-year-old divorced mother who becomes involved in an affair with Hayes Campbell, the leader of the world's most popular boy band.
The figure of the musician takes inspiration on Harry Styles, however, it is not based on his story nor is it the result of a fanfic. "It's not a book about Harry, but a story about a woman approaching four decades, reclaiming her sexuality and rediscovering herself, just at a time when society traditionally views women as less desirable, less viable and less complete," the author explained to Vogue magazine.
The production promises to be a turning point for Hathaway after the series of dramatic roles she starred in, with titles such as Eileen or She Came to Me and the upcoming thriller Mother's Instinct alongside Jessica Chastain. Galitzine, on the other hand, gained notoriety for his participation in Red, White and Royal Blue, Bottoms and Cinderella, standing out as a recent recurring figure in the genre.
The cast is complemented by the performances of Ella Rubin, who plays Izzy, Reid Scott as Dan, as well as Annie Mumolo, Viktor White, Raymond Cham, Jaiden Anthony and Dakota Adan. Directing the film is Michael Showalter. The title also received an R rating for its explicit content, with several nudity and sexually explicit scenes, previewing an uncensored look at the relationship between Solène and Hayes.
'The Idea of You,' will hit streaming on May 2.
