Marvel Studios has set the stage for its upcoming release with the reveal of the cast members who will star in a new installment of The Fantastic 4. These actors will bring to life the iconic superhero quartet, who will once again return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Directed by Matt Shakman, known for his work on WandaVision, and written by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, Fantastic 4 promises an exciting adventure for these superhero friends. Filming will begin mid-year to allow Pascal to combine his commitments with the second season of HBO's The Last of Us.
This time, Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, who possesses the extraordinary ability to stretch his body to unimaginable lengths. Vanessa Kirby will play Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman, who has the power to manipulate light and generate force fields. For his part, Joseph Quinn will bring to life Johnny Storm, Sue's brother, known as the Human Torch, with the power to manipulate fire. Finally, Ebon Moss-Bachrach completes the cast as Ben Grimm, aka "The Thing," with a strange rocky morphology and superhuman strength.
This was just one of several attempts to bring the Fantastic Four into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Previously under the domain of 20th Century Fox, the franchise saw several iterations, with the most recent attempt in 2015 receiving a lackluster reception. The inclusion of these new characters opens a new chapter in this cinematic universe, following the departure of great figures such as Steve Rogers and Tony Stark. In fact, the next few years will see an avalanche of Marvel releases, with Fantastic 4 scheduled for July 25, 2025.
