At the close of Squid Game season 1, Gi Hun abandons the flight that was to reunite him with his daughter. An unreleased Netflix clip introduces the second installment with the protagonist's determination for revenge. "I'm going to find you, no matter what," he responds in a phone call. Expectations are high for the return of the iconic Korean series that became a boom on the platform in 2021. This time, the production aims to replicate the level of intrigue and action with the return of some characters and the introduction of new faces for the episodes that will be available sometime in 2024.
Along with the first video trailer, the entertainment site also shares images of the fiction created by Hwang Dong Hyuk. Gong Yoo, Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hun collaborate with Im Si Wan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Gyu Young, among other South Korean talents.
For the creator and director of Squid Game, seeing the result on screen was a dream come true. Executing the idea and finding an investor willing to bet on it took about 12 years. Now one of the most-watched series in Netflix's entire history, Hwang acknowledges the pressure to deliver a satisfying sequel. "I have a lot on my shoulders, but I'll make sure it pays off," he told Netflix in December.
Although there's not an official sipnosis, fans expect a new edition of the bloody competition. The well-remembered "red light, green light" moment will be repeated, but there will also be other innocent-looking games with deadly results.
The second season of 'Squid Game,' will arrive later this year.
