Over the course of five installments, the Final Destination film saga not only brought great joy to fans of the horror genre, but also became a solid source of income for New Line Cinema. Initially inspired by an episode of The X-Files, the first film starring Devon Sawa told the story of a group of young people who escape from a horrible tragedy, only to have death return to settle the score in the most exaggerated and bloody way possible.
The sequels took the premise to a new level, making the - as creative as they were bizarre - murders the real protagonists. Now, thirteen years after its fifth film and after a long period of rumors, the saga finally seems to be returning to the set for a new film, tentatively titled Final Destination: Bloodlines.
Last October we learned that the script for the sixth installment of Final Destination was far enough along that it was crucial for the writer and actor strikes to be resolved for the project to move to the next stage. As part of an update, in the last few days, cinematographer Christian Sebaldt shared a photo indicating that the film is finally getting ready to start shooting.
In fact, the duo of Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein will direct the film. They previously directed the sci-fi thriller Freaks (2018), starring Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern. As for the cast, the only one confirmed so far is Tony Todd (Candyman) who, apparently, will reprise his role as William Bludworth, a character who first appeared in the original 2000 film. At the moment, it is unknown if Final Destination: Bloodlines will be the final title and when we might get a release window.
